The United Dragon story
United Dragon Co. Ltd. is an outstanding, state of the art bean and pulse company co-founded by my father, Mr. U Kyaw Win, with more than five decades of industry experience. Our other co-founder and director is his son, Mr. Ye Lin Tun (me).
My father started his career in June 1970 buying and selling in the commodity and fresh vegetable sector in the Myanmar market.
He increased trade, the company blossomed, and was instrumental in the development of effective management systems to meet quality, environmental and social standards. Doing this, he improved the company’s access to new markets that follow stringent trade regulations, including Japan and the EU.
I, Mr. Ye Lin Tun, have a medical background. I studied to be a doctor, and health and nutrition are very important to me.
In January 2017, my father and I founded our family business, United Dragon Co. Ltd. We export beans and pulses from Myanmar.
Our primary products are green mung beans, black matpe, black eyed beans, butter beans and brown beans. However, we specialize in green mung beans for sprouting and food grade black matpe and black eyed beans.

Healthy beans and pulses
People often wonder why a medical doctor joined his father in a pulses business. Both are linked.
As a doctor, I know that good health starts with access to affordable nutrition. The food industry and medical profession consider pulses as go-to health and wellbeing ingredients. They are an excellent source of dietary fibre, folate, manganese, potassium, iron, and protein.
Pulses, such as dried peas, beans, lentils, and chickpeas are superfoods packed with diverse nutritious properties. They are also relatively affordable. Pulses are a staple and important food security for cultures around the world. They are associated with lowering risks of cardiovascular disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer.
Our pulses fit well into the Blue Zone diet, known for longevity and healthy communities.
Part of longevity is sustainable agriculture. Falling yields and poor crops lead to people becoming vulnerable. Pulses are recognized as enriching and improving soil fertility.
Pulses help people and are good for the environment – both critical as the world population will rise above nine billion people by 2050.

Staff health and wellbeing
